Pictures from a 4 day hike in the Rhön Mittelgebirge in Germany

After arriving in Germany from Kopenhagen, I went staright to my next trip in the Rhön Mittelgebirge, known for it's rough but beautiful scenery. Mirjam accompanied me through this enchanted world of stone, woods, bog and mist. If you want to visit the Rhön for yourself, you might try this link to RhönLine to see many impressive photos and maps.

Here you see the victorious troops invade the town Gersfeld, the base for our expedition. ;-)

These sheep (black head, white body) are typical for the Rhön countryside.

At this camp fire on the evening of the first day, we invented a nice custom: Every piece of wood we throw into the flames gets the name of a celebrity we wish to burn in hell :->

It was quite foggy and rainy the second day. This misty scene is on top of the "Pferdekopf"

But finally, at about 14 p.m., the sun won the battle against the fog and it became a fine day. Fine, except that we walked for miles to find a hotel.

Blblblblblblbl

In the morning of the 3rd day, these Gersfelder natives are discussing the latest "BILD Zeitung" news at the village fountain.

The third day was unbelievably hot, so we were misled to camp in the wood. This is the morning of the 4th day, and Miri's just in the progress of thawing after a freezing night

After sleeping in the wood with nothing above our heads but the clear sky, this village fountain must do for a bathroom...

Will Bier - (= I want beer) - Now who doesn't ?!?
